Daniel Carlson

HANCOCK — Daniel Carlson, 57, a resident of Hancock, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from an apparent drowning accident. Daniel was born on September 22, 1968, in Laurium, to David and Annette (Niska) Carlson. He was raised in Laurium and was a graduate of Calumet High School with the class of 1986.

On July 23, 1988, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Johnston.

Dan attended Michigan Technological University. He worked as an Automotive Engineer, which led to residing in Chicago and Detroit. For the past 5 years, he has made his home in Hancock.

Dan was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. Faith and Family, especially his children and grandchildren, were important to him.

Preceding Dan in death are his grandson, Esko Carlson, and a sister, Linda Homala.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Carlson

His children: Sara (Steven) Watson, Loren (Kristen) Carlson of Linden, MI, Joel (Kara) Carlson of Calumet, Joy (Logan) Watson of Swartz Creek, MI, Ben (Natalie) Carlson of Linden, MI, 21 grandchildren, his parents: David and Annette Carlson, his siblings: Don (Susie), Mary (Terry) McDaniels, Timothy (Cynthia), Terry (Julie), Jonathon (Jennifer), Joel (Nancy), Dale (Jodi), Doug (Luann), Philip (Annie), Patrick (Elaine), and Jerome (Lily).

A funeral service for Dan will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock. Burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery in Calumet.

Friends may call on Monday, June 8, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Hancock and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of services at the church.
