Daniel Kump
CALUMET — Daniel Frank Kump of Calumet, Michigan passed away on October 4, 2025 in Mesa, Arizona. Daniel was born on January 22, 1956 in Calumet to parents Albert and Janet Kump. Daniel graduated from Calumet High School. He also graduated from Michigan Tech with a degree in mining engineering in 1978.
He met the love of his life; Deborah Pike and they were married in November 1982. They divorced in 1990, but stayed dear friends until his passing. Daniel worked as a mining engineer until his retirement. He never balked at getting his hands dirty. He also worked as a miner, cabinet maker and a janitor.
Daniel loved to read and was always looking to grow his knowledge. He loved game shows like Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune; he loved learning and testing himself. Mining techniques, both historical and modern, remained a point of interest for him. He also had a passion for running and was very proud to have completed three marathons.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Janet, his brother David, as well as his baby Daniel Joseph Kump.
He is survived by his ex-wife and dear friend Deborah, as well as his children Kathleen and Brian, step-daughter Jennifer, his brother and his wife Dennis and Nanette, Sister Denise, niece Beth, as well as numerous cousins and their children.
A service for Daniel Kump will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Calumet, Michigan at 11 a.m. on June 25, 2026. There will be a burial to follow at Lake View Cemetery at noon.
