Karen Kent
HANCOCK — Karen Jean Alexander Kent, 76, former resident of Hancock, passed away on June 12, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy in Hubbell.
Karen was born on Dec 12, 1949, in Detroit, a daughter of Roy J. and Jean Katherine (Coffey) Alexander. She graduated from Waterford Kettering High School.
She lived in Chile for a year as a high school foreign exchange student. She attended Michigan State University, and later, finished her degree in English at Oakland University.
She moved to Dollar Bay before moves to Iran, Ireland, Milford, Michigan, West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Waterford, before retiring to Hancock in 2005.
Along with being a loving mother to her son, she worked at Meteor Photo, Waterford Library, and Oakland University Library.
She loved playing board games and cards. She enjoyed gardening and watching movies.
She is survived by: her son, Matthew (Kristen) Kent of Monticello, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Mary, Dominic, Scholastica, Francis, Clare, Magdalena, Patricia, Veronica, and Peter; along with other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Liturgy will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden with Father Raju Jose to officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 until 11 a.m. before the Funeral Service at the funeral Home. Burial will be at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock.
