LAND O’ LAKES, WI -- Mary Lou Hartmann, age 82, of Land O' Lakes, WI and Eagle Harbor, MI, passed away at her home in Land O' Lakes on July 22, 2026.
She was born on July 6, 1944, in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Glen and Gertrude Imle. She married Charles "Chuck" Hartmann in 1969 and they moved to Land O' Lakes in 1973 where she and Chuck owned and operated Chuck's Rusty Nail from 1988 to 2013.
She is survived by her husband Chuck, son Peter (Melissa) of Bemidji, MN. grandchildern Vanessa (Eric) Schulke of Bemidji, MN, Alexandra Hartmann of Grand Rapids, MN, and Maggie Hartmann of Bemidji, MN. Great-grandchildren Aspen, Rachel, Brady and Beau Schulke of Bemidji, MN. Sister Shirley (Robert) Borland of Weston, WI. Sister-in-laws Judith (Gene) March, of St. Louis, MO and Eagle Harbor, MI, and Katherine (Robert) Frye, of St. Louis, MO, and Eagle Harbor, MI.
Nieces, Debbie (Gary) Fletz of Wausau, WI., Leanne (Kevin) Wagener of Mosinee, WI , and Michelle Imle, of Gurnee, IL. Nephews, Robert (Mary) Borland of Madison WI, James Imle of Zion, IL, and Michael (Deanne) Frye of Maryland Heights MO, and numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, brother Glen "Bud" (Patricia) Imle, sister-in-law, Patricia Imle, brother-in-laws, Robert (Katherine) Frye, Gene (Judith) March, and George Hartmann, and niece, Robin (Brett) Borders.
She enjoyed spending time at their family homes in Eagle Harbor, and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, attending many games with family and friends. Her passion for plants and flowers filled and surrounded her home with color. She could make anything grow. Mary Lou's life was filled with love, kindness, and generosity. Her friends and family will miss her dearly.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday September 19, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. Alberts Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, with Father Ron Serrao to officiate. Interment will be at the family plots of Pine Grove Cemetery in Eagle Harbor at a later date. Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home is serving the family.
