PORTOLA, CA -- Thomas Story, age 72, a resident of Portola, CA, passed away on August 23, 2026 at his home after a 5-month battle with lung cancer. He was born on April 7, 1954 in Janesville, WI To Frank and Elaine (Wilke) Story. In 1968 his family moved to Hancock, MI and he graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1972. After graduation, he served 4 years in the U. S. Marine Corps.
On December 19, 1981, he married Jennie Lupercio.
After retirement he moved from Anaheim, CA to Portola, CA where he managed the Pizza Factory for seven years.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, four uncles and a step-grandson.
He is survived by: Wife Jennie; Mother: Elaine Story of Chassell, MI; Son: David (April) Story and Grandchildren: Melanie Story and Grace Story of Iowa; Brothers: Robert (Jayne) Story of Dollar Bay MI and Kevin (Julie) Story of Slidell, LA; Sister: Dawn (Robert) Mezzano of Stacy, MN; Step-children: Vickie Turner, Nicholas (Luka) Balderas, and Anthony (Renee) Balderas; Step- grandchildren: Nathaniel Murphy, Scotty (Danielle) Balderas, Roxy Balderas, Shane Balderas, and Ashlee Balderas; Step-Great Grandchildren: Makaio Swanson, Kalawika Swanson, Noah Balderas, and Lincoln Balderas.
Also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special person that Jennie and Tom raised like a daughter – Celine Dawnelle Moore.
