DODGEVILLE -- Brian "Brock" Dunstan, 61, a resident of Dodgeville, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at U.P. Health System-Portage in Hancock following a brief illness.
Brian was born on November 1, 1964, to James and Maryanne (Mia Hietala) Dunstan and was a graduate of Hancock High School.
Over the years, Brian worked for the City of Houghton, Northern Automotive, construction in New Hampshire and the Bleacher's Sport's Bar.
In Brian's free time, he enjoyed many things like golfing, going on pontoon rides, listening to the oldies on the radio, walking, and spending time with family, but most especially – playing cards. There was never a gathering where he didn't pull out his personal deck of cards and chips – and he was never afraid to knock early during a game of 31.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Brian "Brock" knew there was so much more to him than what met the eye. He was a deeply kind and compassionate person, someone who cared sincerely about others and had a heart of gold. His kindness came from a genuine place, and those who had the privilege of knowing him understood just how special he truly was.
Brian is survived by his close nephew, Bradley Dunstan; his brother Steve (Julie) Dunstan and their sons, Jeff, Tim and Tom; Aunts, Bonnie (Hietala) Degenhardt and Judith (Sid) Dunstan, as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jamie (Chop) Dunstan and sister Cindy Dunstan.
The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home is assisting the family. A celebration of Brian's life and burial will take place at a later date.
