LAURIUM -- Jeffrey Alan Erickson, 50, of Laurium, MI passed away suddenly on August 30, 2026. Jeff was born on September 14, 1975 in Virginia, MN to Carl "Dan" Erickson and Judith (Niska) Erickson. Jeff grew up on the Iron Range of Minnesota where he learned to love dirt track racing and spent much of his time working on racecars and building lifetime friendships. After high school, Jeff moved to Laurium, Michigan where he met his future wife, Gina Erkkila. They were married on January 31,1998. The couple moved to Minnesota where Jeff earned his journeyman electrician's license, working in Minneapolis until moving back to Laurium in 2003. There, they raised two daughters, Helen and Saima. Jeff went on to specialize in energy management creating Keweenaw Automation with his
business partner and friend, Sam Newman. Jeff served on the Laurium Village Council for 12 years, working to restore recreational facilities to revitalize youth sports and activities in the village. Jeff loved to take care of his family and friends. He was a doting, loving father, a kind and good husband, and a special uncle to many.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Judy, his sister Joy Newman, his stepmother Pat, his infant sister Karen, his infant niece Alicia Newman, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife Gina, his daughters Helen and Saima, his father Carl "Dan" Erickson, his brothers Keith (Kelly) Erickson, Karl (Ruthann) Erickson, his sisters Katie (Mark) Curlew,
Julie (Sam) Newman, Jill (Michael) Haapala, and brother-in-law Mike Newman.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday September 3, 2026 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church in Calumet, MI. Visitation will be held form 10:00 AM-12:00 PM on Thursday September 3, 2026 at the Church.
