BIRCH RUN, MI – Thomas R. Learmont passed away peacefully Thursday, October 8, 2026 at his home; age 90 years. Tom was born on September 21, 1936 in Torch Lake Township to the late Oliver and Myrl Learmont. He was married to the former Ruth Festerling; she predeceased him on October 10, 2020.
Tom graduated from Michigan Tech University and attended MIT in Boston. He was an engineer for the U.S Army TACOM. Tom attended Birch Run United Methodist Church and Burt Fellowship Church. He enjoyed hiking all over the Western U.S, fishing, and traveling. He was Volunteer of the Year in Frankenmuth. Tom was on the Heritage Village board at Montcalm Community College.
Surviving are: daughter Mary Ann (Jeffery) Hatfield of Bay City, MI; son Robert (Val) Learmont of Lake Linden, MI; daughter-in-law Jennifer Learmont of White Lake, MI; 6 grandchildren Keith, Kaitlin, Christi, Halie, Hannah and Trevor; brother-in-law James Dairo; 11 great-grandchildren; partner Jay Ann Koreck and best friend Nicola Danks; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by son Donald Learmont, 2 sisters Virginia and Nancy, and brother James.
Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Cremation has taken place. Tom's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
