Coles Creek — Karl J. Massie, 61, a resident of Coles Creek, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at UP Health Systems – Portage Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on Feb. 20, 1963, in Hancock, a son of the late James and Rita (O’Brien) Massie. Karl was raised in Houghton and was a graduate of Hancock High School with the class of 1981. Following High School Mr. Massie worked for Herman Gundlach Contracting and Martino Morris Contracting before beginning a career working for Great Lakes Plastics until his health would no longer allow him to work.
