LIMINGA — Ruth Elaine Johnson, born in Liminga, went to be with the Lord surrounded by loved ones at age 95, on Dec. 20, 2024. Ruth was the eldest daughter to Victor and Helen (Kauppila) Koskela. She was a 1947 graduate of Houghton High School. Ruth was a member of the Watton Apostolic Lutheran Church and a member of the Staton Senior Citizens. She was a 4-H Leader for many years and a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Ruth was married to James A. Johnson for 64 years. Alice Harju Ross, 93, a resident of Calumet, Mich. passed away on Dec. 21, 2024, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital. She was born Jan. 4, 1931 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to Charley and Sadie (Cunningham) Quinley. Shortly after her birth, they moved to Detroit. She was a graduate of Pershing High School, class of 1949.
