Thank you!

To the editor:

What a wonderful holiday season we enjoyed with families able to share time together. For Copper Country Angel Mission, it started with the Incredible Bank donating 24 Thanksgiving dinners to distribute, followed by the generosity of many lovely people, who took advantage of Portage Health Foundation’s Giving Tuesday. Copper Country Angel Mission thanks all the individuals and businesses, and the foundation itself, for the donations to our programs.

We also thank all the sponsors that took “angels,” and filled the Christmas hopes and needs for nearly 200 children. At least twenty-one businesses and organizations assisted in sponsoring children. Additionally, businesses served as drop-off sites, contributed money, or assisted with distributing registration forms. Some of these organizations and businesses bringing Christmas cheer to area children included: Ace Hardware, Calumet, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, American Forest Management, Inc., Aspirus Fitness Center, Aspirus Pharmacy, Aspirus Surgical Unit, Auto-Pro Glass & Tire, Calumet Electronics, Calumet Township Fire Department, Calumet’s Hats for Hope, DeMars Party Store, Dollar General, Lake Linden, The Calumet Golf Course Women’s League, Mercy Ambulance, Michigan State Police, Calumet Post, Portage Lake United Church, Rotary Club of Hancock, Surplus Outlet, Swift’s Hardware, The Bluff’s employees and residents, UPCAP, Hancock.

Many, many families and individuals also sponsored children, and donated toys or money, for Angel Tree, making this a neighbor-helping-neighbor event as well.

We could not accomplish our mission without the work of volunteers. Copper Country Angel Mission Board of Directors thanks program manager Lynn Lanyon and her team of volunteers, Renee and Paul Tuoriniemi, and Sharon Greiger for their hours of dedication to the Angel Tree program.

Our community cares for neighbors and those in need. Copper Country Angel Mission thanks you for your kindness and generosity toward children and families of our area, making Angel Tree 2021 a success, and for your support of our many programs through your Giving Tuesday and year-round donations.

Just a reminder that our winterwear giveaway is ongoing at the Fifth Street store in Calumet.
