Pictured Rocks Days a great way to spend a day

One of the biggest events of summer returns after a two-year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today and Sunday, Pictured Rocks Days returns at Binsfeld Bayshore Park in Munising. It attracted thousands and thousands of people right from its inception.

Pictured Rocks Cruises once again is offering Yoopers Ride Free. Tickets for the free cruises (weather permitting) will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis today and Sunday with a limit of 1,000 free tickets available per day.

To obtain a free ticket, one must present a photo ID with an Upper Peninsula address in-person at the Pictured Rocks Cruises’ ticket office: no advance tickets, phone orders or holds.

The boat tour is a chance to see some of the beautiful terrain that makes Pictured Rocks such a popular attraction and is well worth a little waiting in line.

But the two-day event offers much more: music, The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Coastie the Safety Boat, vendor booths, a petting zoo, sled dogs, five bounce houses and Rosco the Clown.

The days will be filled with music. Today, that includes Troy Graham and Brennan Brooker at 10 a.m.; Strung Together at 1 p.m.; and Whiskey Ryan and Catfish Kennedy at 4 p.m.

Sunday’s musical lineup is: Troy Graham at 9:30 a.m.; DayDreamers at 11:30 a.m.; and Frank an da Beanz at 2 p.m.

Today, the event goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. while on Sunday, the fun goes from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

All in all, it will be a busy weekend in Munising, no doubt, with many returnees who’ve enjoyed the event in the past. We hope some new folks make the trip and enjoy some great family fun.

We congratulate the Greater Munising Bay Partnership for Commerce Development, the Alger County Chamber of Commerce and all who put time and effort into making this event a great way to get summer rolling.
