Deregulating Stamp Sands a bad idea. Sen. Casperson has introduced a bill in the Senate, SB872, that deregulates and adds stamp sands to list of agricultural residues that resulted from generally accepted ag practice when applied. Under the legislation stamp sands and their effect on the environment could not be regulated. If a company decided to harvest / mine stamp sands for commercial use the state DEQ could not regulate the operation. If it’s a good business to commercialize stamp sands the business should do so under the protection of existing statutes to protect public health and the environment.
