Why it’s good to be a Yooper

To the editor:

A few days ago, my wife and went to the Baraga Casino. During the course of the evening, my wife took her pullover sweater off and lost her necklace. It was a birthday present from me and had a lot of sentimental value and cost quite a few bucks to boot.

My wife and I didn’t realize the necklace was missing until the next morning. She called the casino, and they asked her to describe it. She almost fell on the floor when the security person said someone had turned it in and told her to come in and pick it up!

I am unashamedly biased, but I believe this could have only happened in the Yoop. The person who turned it in didn’t even leave a name so we could thank them.

Whenever I travel, I don’t hide the fact that I am proud to a Yooper. People always ask what is so special about being a Yooper. This is just one more reason.
