Columnist refuted by Wikipedia

To the editor:

In his opinion, published in the Feb. 25 edition of the Daily Mining Gazette, Robert Reich gets, at the very least, one point totally wrong — a point that easily changes the entire thrust of his article.

He states that Boeing, at their South Carolina factory, buys airplane parts from eight foreign countries because the parts “are better, last longer and are more reliable” than U.S.-made parts. Then he continues that those countries provide workers with better education, technical training and health care. The next paragraph explains that they can afford this because they “impose higher tax rates on their corporations and wealthy individuals.” To use his own words, he is “utterly ignorant” (a reference to President Trump) of global corporate tax rates.

In less than 10 minutes, online at Wikipedia, I compared worldwide corporate tax rates and found that the U.S. rate is higher than any of the eight other countries he mentions. At 35 percent, it is a whopping 75 percent higher than the UK at 20 percent.

I fully understand that socialists often don’t think cost seems to matter, but, I’m sure that Boeing does. Does he not realize that taxes are factored into the price of all things — or is he just using fake facts to make his over-zealous point?

I will continue to read his and other leftists’ articles to try to figure out how these people think. Up until now their rationale has completely eluded me.
