To the editor:

I read the article in the Sept. 18 edition of the Gazette about Julie Johnson, a candidate for the Calumet Village Council. She was critical of several committees and programs in the village and maybe she is correct. That I don’t know. However, her criticism of John Rosemergy and Steve DeLong at the Keweenaw National Historic Park was uncalled for and totally wrong. I have known these men for many years and know that they are dedicated to the historical preservation and welfare of our area.

This national park and its staff have provided a great service to the area and if the park was not here, I wonder what Calumet would look like and how much money would be lost from visitors and grant programs.
