What are the limits of our indifference?

John McCain, Serget Magnitsky, and Jamal Khashoggi all endured unspeakable torture, one for years and two at the loss of their lives, simply because they effused to deny truth and freedom. Their sacrifice has been rewarded with criticism and outright indifference. Dictators are revered and supported by those who can hold no ethical candle to these three men.

The D-day speeches of presidents Macron and Trump highlighted the importance of a united front in defense of truth and freedom. Were they both heartfelt, with subsequent action to prove it?

What excuse can we give to our creator if we allow the democracy he blessed to slowly become an Autocracy?
