Thanks for help in grooming trails

To the editor:

The snow is finally melting, the birds are singing, summer is coming and we are all ready for that! As we put the winter season behind us, The Copper Harbor Improvement Association would like to thank everyone involved with the 2018-2019 non-motorized winter trail system in Copper Harbor. First off, we want to thank Clyde Wescoat and the crew at the Fort Wilkins State Park for their generosity in allowing us to groom and maintain trails on their property again this year. Thank you!

Of course, the winter trails do not groom themselves and this year, we had a great crew. Thank you, Marty Faassen and Cory Osieczonek, our crew chiefs, as well as, Forrest Fill, Mike Borlee, Tom Wierciak, Matt Moll, Dan Kauppi, Jeff Ihde, and Casey Krueger for volunteering your time and efforts to the cause. Each had their designated day and the schedule was maintained very well this year. Thank you! Our season was cut short due to the groomer breaking down in the middle of March. However, because of having such a strong season on the trails, Grant Township stepped-up and helped us get a new machine so we will be up and running in fine form for the 2019-2020 Winter Season. Thank you, Grant Township! We have already begun preparing for our 2019-2020 season, expanding our trail system, adding routes and additional groomer operators. Thank you everyone for coming up to Copper Harbor to enjoy our winter trails! We love to have you visit and invite you to return again to experience what has been added to further your winter adventures.
