To the editor:

I’d like to write a big “thank you” to the members of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 270 “Sacred Heart Society”! With so many things going on in their lives, they take the time to slow down once a month, share a meal, and take interest in their heritage. Most of them are descendants of Croatians, and it’s important to them to hang on to their Croatian roots, culture and heritage.

They’re also quite a giving bunch! At the last meeting, they voted to donate $700 to local charities – $100 each to the CLK Food Pantry, Beacon House, Omega House, Honor Flight, VA Bus, St. Vincent Martha Mary Society and the Keweenaw Heritage Foundation. I am so proud to be part of this awesome team, and to serve them as their President. Good job Sacred Heart Society – your generousness is appreciated! Sincerely, Anne Linja.
