To the editor:

The Village of Laurium expresses heartfelt thanks and gratitude for the donation of handmade face masks for our police and fire departments from Patricia Konopka and Mary Hyslop, members of the volunteer group Face-Masks from the Keweenaw.

During these challenging times, and limited commercial resources, the efforts of our Keweenaw community members to provide the badly needed face masks to our first responders, health care providers, and others in need, reaffirms what Copper Country means.

Our combined communities clearly demonstrate our continued self-reliance during times of crisis and unknown challenges yet faced. We will continue to meet and rise above this current challenge by looking after each other and doing our part, as little or big it may be. Face-Masks from the Keweenaw, all their members like Patricia and Mary, and those who’ve supported the group through material and monetary donation is just one example of our commitment to persevere.
