Protest issues

To the editor:

Recently there have been violent protests in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago, New York City, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Atlanta and other cities. The “violent” protests are led by anarchists who hate this country and hate the President of this great nation even more. The malicious destruction of property and looting has been condoned by the mayors of these cities as well as by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. What is the common denominator running through these cities? The mayors are all democrats who refuse help from the federal government to quell this criminal behavior. The media reports that the show of force only incites the rioters to take more drastic measures. Apparently the view of these mayors is to let the malicious destruction of property and looting run its course. Meanwhile people’s livelihood is being taken away from them.

The democrats also want to defund the police which will allow these criminal acts to continue unabated in destroying private property. New York City has taken one billion dollars from the police department budget to use elsewhere. Mayor de Blasio claims that the number of incarcerations in NYC is at an all time low. He simply does not want to recognize that when a criminal is arrested, they are released immediately without bail to await a trial date in the future. Incarcerated criminals are being released in huge numbers due to over crowding and the COVID-19 pandemic.

The democratic party has stated that America was never a great country and when this destruction is allowed to continue we will no longer have a great country because a country divided will not stand. Do we really want to see the end of our country?

I have always been a patriot no matter who the president is. Without the people working together our country will be destroyed and hate will triumph over patriotism and love.

In the Bible, Jesus states “love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you”. (Matthew 5:44) It would be wonderful if we could all put our differences aside and work to save our country before it is too late!
