Question to Houghton

To the editor:

We have lived in Houghton for almost 30 years, during that time there have been three City Managers.  All of them have moved the city forward at a nice pace.  In those thirty years there has never been a dispute between the residents and City Government that has provoked a ballot proposal.

The ballot proposal was passed by 79% of the voters, 79% that is over 800 residents have directed the City Government to: postpone the sale of the waterfront property

engage stakeholders, who include the City Government, Citizens of Houghton and the  Downtown Business Owners, to seek out other options for the property.

Our question to the City Manager and members of City Council.

Do you support the Democratic Process in which over 800 voters

agreed with the Proposal on the Aug 4th Ballot?
