To the editor:

Race, referring to people, is not mentioned once in the Bible, rather they’re called tribes or families. The four uses of “race” that I did find in the Bible all refer to running a race (Psm. 19:5, Eccl. 9:11, 1 Corin. 9:24, Heb. 12:1).

Even the sin of “racism” isn’t mentioned in the Bible, but it describes and condemns the sins of pride, malice, envy, murder, kidnapping, hating one another, etc. Racism is a manmade term and like the old saying goes, “it takes one to know one.” Acts 17:26 tells us we are all made in God’s image, one race, one blood. There are no “races” in God’s eyes. We are each responsible to Him and to each other.

All nations have been wicked since they began in the day of Cain and his descendants. No nation has been truly righteous since man’s fall, not even Israel in her heyday during the reigns of David and Solomon. Proverbs 58:3 says, “The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.”

All men can be saved, changed and reconciled to God and to his fellow man. This is the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Only the Gospel has the power to change men’s hearts and create a “new man.”

Realize, Dear Reader, amid all the current chaos happening in America, that the fight is “..not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph. 6:11) The spiritual battle for the souls of men is real and Satan is behind it.

Trump may indeed serve a second term. Why? Because numerous people are watching their portfolios and investments. But keep in mind that prosperity is a real spiritual killer. Putting money ahead of God has been and will continue to be our country’s downfall. Priorities matter and God should always take first place. 

Jonah preached a simple message of repentance and it worked. It’s doubtful America will see another revival, but individuals can still find the Lord.

“For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Matt. 16:26)
