Government regulations

To the editor:

The government is interfering with my life. I had to make my morning coffee with clean tap water imposed by government water standards. I then had to use pasteurized milk on my cereal because of stupid government regulations. Back on the farm in Atlantic Mine we used fresh milk from the cows with no problems; it was also needed for viili (a Finnish yogurt).

I took my medications that were finally approved last week, but it took too long because of government meddling in the safety of new drugs.

I decided to make a ham sandwich to bring to work for lunch. I’ve been told that the ham is safe to eat because of government regulations of the meat packing industry. Then I drive to work. Why seat belts and air bags? Why anti-lock brakes? Why smog controls? This all costs more money in the price of the car. I consider it theft. Being a little late, I sped down the road around 50, passing a near empty bus. I knew the speed limit was 35, but that’s just another of the frustrating forms of government interference. I thought the speed limit should be optional and not government interference in my constitutional freedom to drive as I see fit.

A cop pulled me over for speeding and using my cell phone while driving and proceeded to write me a ticket. He noticed that two of my tires were bald and he had the gall to chew me out for bald tires, telling me I was endangering myself and others on the highway. He was obviously on a power trip. I want to get the most mileage possible from the tires.

After work, I stopped at the grocery store for a loaf of bread and noticed a large label listing the ingredients. The government forced the bakery to list all these strange sounding chemicals used in the bread. There was a similar listing on the bottle of cranberry/raspberry juice. Was this necessary?

At home I opened my government delivered mail. The first letter indicated that the Affordable Care Act paid for most of my expensive appendix operation. But, shockingly, the second letter said that my bank failed. However, the letter told me not to worry because the government insured my deposits and my money was safe.

I just can’t get this “socialist” government off my back!
