Houghton waterfront

To the editor:

I don’t think people are happy with the decision to go with Veridea. The Houghton City Council says people had a chance to be involved. It appears that many don’t feel this to be true. How about humoring everyone, slow down and back up. There is no reason that the council has to carry on in this direction. A number of people on the city council were replaced, apparently the people of Houghton were not pleased with some of the activities of the council. A referendum supporting more citizen involvement was strongly supported. This whole project should be revisited with the new council. I don’t think one thing has been done to accommodate the concerns people continue to have about this whole project. The city council works for the people, it should listen to them.

We have all this beautiful waterfront property, why is there a need to develop it? If anything only low impact stuff for the use of the public should be built there.

This is my opinion as to what is happening with regard to the parking deck land. I would love to hear what other people in the area think about it.
