Regrettable decision

To the editor:

Mr. Bergman,

The Electoral College made it official on the evening of Dec. 14. The election of

Nov. 3 gave the win to Joseph R. Biden, president elect. When you approved of

the Texas attorney general’s lawsuit several days ago, you committed a despicable act.

As our representative in Congress, we expect you to face facts with clarity, not prejudice. Your action displays the corruption that boils over in these end days of the Trump presidency.

The U.S. Constitution in the 14th Amendment is very clear with regards to your decision to have the lawsuit go to the Supreme Court: “No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress…who having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress…to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof…”

It is imperative that truth govern your actions, Mr. Bergman. Siding with the falsehood reality that Donald Trump perpetrates (even to this day) makes your integrity as our representative hollow and ashen.

Americans have heavy burdens to bare in this pandemic. We look to our elected

officials to lead us forward into better days. Please get on the track that is based

on facts.
