To the editor:
Representative Jack Bergman,
Representative Lisa McClain,
Representative Tim Walberg,
The only honorable course of action available to you is to vote to impeach Donald J Trump on Monday and then immediately resign for your complicity in the acts of sedition that occurred in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021. Your actions have undermined the free and fair elections of the United States and for the first time in the history of this country a peaceful transfer of power was disrupted with violence, and the traitorous flag of the Confederacy was traipsed through the Capitol rotunda. This culminated in the deaths of four citizens who believed your lies, and one Capitol Police officer defending you from those people.
Neither the Confederate Army, nor the terrorists of Flight 93 were able to soil the sacred seat of our Democratic Republic, but the seeds of doubt sewn by you and other Republican leaders have borne the fruit of sedition against a nation you were sworn to protect. You should have mustered the courage to follow the lead of Senator Mitt Romney to “tell the American people the truth”. Either you are too ignorant to understand the truth that this was a free, fair and secure election, or you have played a dangerous political game with the power entrusted to you. In either case, you are unworthy of the trust that has been placed in you by the people of the great state of Michigan and you should resign post-haste.
To those of you who actively stirred mistrust by spreading falsehoods, you should feel shame that the power of your words and misplaced trust in them, have helped to incite sedition and violence against our government and the rule of law. To those of you who participated in the anti-democratic actions of defiling of the sacred halls of our democracy in an attempt to use mob violence to overthrow the United States government, you have failed. You will be found, arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And you will deserve it.
