Don’t drink the Kool-Aid

To the editor:

I am somewhat troubled with the amount of people today who act as medical experts and knowledgable scholars on the Bible and the Constitution.

Using the words of some notable Americans, with the hope of shedding light on matters today… I present the following.

President Eisenhower said, ” Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This is not a way of life, in any sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”

Mark Shields said on his last Friday on PBS to David Brooks, “Too many people today heat themselves from a fire they did not light and drink from a well they did not dig.”

President John Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

Watching nurses cry on nightly news brings tears to my eyes. Folks, it’s time to quit drinking the Kool-Aid.

P.S., Representative Bergman, you have disgraced your uniform.
