Just sayin’

To the editor:

I truly believe that Academia’s political theologies, concerning Socialism, are rationalizations designed to keep the government money flowing. Exploiting the kindness of others, by telling them, “If you follow, we will solve all of the injustice in this world.”

Knowing that Utopia cannot be achieved, I would ask, “How?”

The response will sound nothing like the answer, which is, “Give us complete and utter control over you. Your thoughts, your voice, your hard-earned possessions and money, every aspect of your life.”

The things they don’t say are the things we should be hearing. “We will need you to turn in your firearms, so that we can protect you. That is, if you’re a true believer.”

Eventually, government control is so overwhelming, everyone works for the government, likely at assigned jobs. And when this fails, which it is doomed to, “We will have to eliminate some of the population for the greater good.”

I realize that all of this sounds like it’s coming from a doomsday dummy, and the truth is, I’m not very smart. In fact, I wouldn’t take my word for it. Check history, (that is, if you can find un-edited versions) dating all the way back to the Persians. Pay special attention to Socialism and Communism along the way (and no, it’s not new and improved). Giving others control over your lives will end badly, in most cases, very badly.

The reason that the United States of America has been the greatest Nation in the world for over 200 years, the reason everyone wants to come here, the reason other countries are trying to emulate us, the reason we abolished slavery, the reason for the civil rights movement … the reason we’ve had such fantastic, adventurous lives … is freedom.
