To all concerned citizens,

The Portage Township Planning Commission will hold a public meeting on May 19, 2022 (Thursday) at 7:00 pm to consider amending the Zoning Ordinance to permit seaplane operations as a special use in Portage Townships existing B-2 Zoning District.

Airports are only allowed in M-1 manufacturing districts, so essentially they are trying to rezone the area from B-2 to M-1.

This Seaplane Airport would be on the pristine shores of Portage Lake, next to The Nara Nature Park, and Houghton’s very own active bald eagles nest!

Please mark your calendars, and take a moment out of your busy schedules to attend this critical meeting.
