Purdue settlement eyed
To the Editor:
I am not sure if the opioid money settlement relates to Purdue Pharmaceutical’s long term relationship with doctors, over approximately 30-plus years, in which they assured doctors that opioids weren’t addictive and encouraged them to prescribe them outrageously out of the bounds of common sense!
At one point, I was aware of approximately 50 doctors in the Upper Peninsula who were censored due to over prescribing! Even when the opioid problem became evident, Purdue accelerate their encouragement to prescribe with impunity of legal repercussions legally!
In the recent past articles the last Purdue president continues to deny responsibility for the opioid epidemic, to this day, even with a preponderance of evidence of their interactions with doctors and collusion with distributors to push their dangerous drugs!
It appears by the article in the paper that the distributors agreed to be fall guys for Purdue Pharma … unless this settlement is the better case, with attorneys general of states suing separately, rather than the class action lawsuit preferred by Purdue, to end in a lump sum!
