On the morning of Feb. 22, 2023, we woke up to our home and garage fully engulfed in flames. We made it out with the clothes on our backs. It was a total loss.

We would like to express our gratitude to the South Range, Atlantic Mine and Hurontown fire departments. They fought the fire in brutal cold temperatures for hours and had to return several times. The kindness and compassion they showed us will never be forgotten!

To the fireman that placed my wedding rings in my hand – I will never forget what you and your team went through to do that for me.

Our friends and community have also been so supportive of us that a mere thank you doesn’t seem to be enough. We are so blessed to be alive, warm, safe and well fed.

And to our daughter Sam who never left our sides, without you I don’t think we would have made it through that day!
