Return our system to normalcy
The Constitution of the United State of America protects everyone in our nation and belongs to all of us. The league of Women Voters, including the LWV of the Copper Country, is committed to defending the Constitution.
The League does not support or oppose candidates for office. The League is opposed to flagrant disregard for congressional authority. The League defends constitutional checks and balances present in our governmental systems. The League defends the constitutional authority of the Supreme Court and the requirement that Supreme Court rulings be followed by all, without exceptions.
Sadly, these essential aspects of our constitutional system of government are under daily attack from within the Tramps administration. The League of Women Voters will not stand by and allow these attacks to go unanswered. Join us in raising our voices to protect our democracy. We oppose the SAVE Act, which makes voting harder for millions of long-time voters; We oppose the gutting of crucial programs like Medicaid that are essential for many Americans. We oppose illegal deportations such as those that violate constitutional protections of due process (www.lwv.org/uniteandris.
We urge you to join in the task of defending our Constitution and the rule of law. This will be an ongoing effort. We will keep you informed of what we are doing (lwvccmi.org). We invite you to keep us informed of your actions and suggestions as we, together, work to return our system to normalcy from the current crisis.
Faith Morrison, Linda Belote
Co-Presidents, for the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country
