Socialism to Prevail?

A cultural shift in the USA is occurring right before our very eyes.

What is it? Political dogma saturates us. Are we to be a nation abiding by the ideals stated by our Founding Fathers? That is, each person can live freely, prosper in accordance with his native abilities and thereby flourish. Some will flourish while others may not do as well. Each man should be free to pursue his own lifestyle within the boundaries of reasonable laws, so say our Founding Fathers.

But new ideals have emerged, ideals that perhaps are superior to those stated by our Founding Fathers. These may best be encapsulated in a single statement popularized by Karl Marx, viz., “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.” (Communism or socialism, so what) This perhaps serves as the banner statement for zealous students in our leading universities seeking social justice. Imbued with this superior knowledge, their fervent determination to alter the economic structure of the USA is quite evident as seen by them shouting out paraphrased versions of this pearl of wisdom on the streets.

Credit must first be attributed to professors in these universities who expound the virtues of socialism to their charges. No doubt many of these illustrious men and women have themselves functioned in the private sector, and as such may have benefitted monetarily, perhaps even to a substantial degree.

But money may not have been good enough for these idealists, these promulgators of truth. Their impartial exposure of the unfairness suffered by an underprivileged and impoverished citizenry is seeded in a widely celebrated book. A celebrated book? Wow.

Is this a book encompassing sublime knowledge? Yes, it is none other than das Kapital by Karl Marx. A book, a prime mover, in which the premises of a superior political doctrine are poignantly stated. Just think, no more weaselly money-grubbers out to stuff their pockets and plundering our collective wealth. Share and share alike.

Bravo, then, to these brave men and women leading the universities in promoting this superior doctrine. Bravo to their young men and women on our streets shouting out the truth.

May our nation thus prosper. But keep your fingers crossed. Our Founding Fathers may have been right after all.

Let freedom prevail.
