Fair was marvelous

I have to thank Copper Shores for the wonderful “free lunch” on Senior Day at the fair. The food was great and the servers were gracious. The fair itself was marvelous. I enjoyed it immensely. So many interesting events and the animals were so well kept and the handlers were patiently answering our many questions. I’m so glad I went.

Civilizational erasure
To the Editor:
Henry David Thoreau said, “The path of least resistance leads to crooked rivers and crooked men.” Even William Federer, well-known historian, warned back in 2011: “Europe has gone from Judeo-Christian to secular …. And so, into Europe comes Sharia Law Islam. It’s taking entire cities. You go from drive into neutral before you go into reverse. You had to go from Judeo-Christian to secular before you became Islamic.”
Last December Donald Trump listed numerous internal problems which Europe is currently facing, noting that these troubles are “eclipsed by the real and more stark prospect of civilizational erasure.” This is now happening in America. Civilizational erasure is a political term that describes the perceived loss, replacement, or destruction of traditional cultural, political, and demographic identities within a society or region.
The United States is currently going far along this slippery slope to secularism and Islamism. Call it the tip of the iceberg of “Titanic America.” Will the vacuum be filled by the aggressive theology of violent Islam or with Christ’s love?
The Holy Scriptures in both the Old and New Testaments give us the answer. Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.” Jeremiah 32:27 tells us, “Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.” Mark 10:27 also testifies, “And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”
As the midterm election approaches, remember to do the following three things:
1. Pray that God protects us,
2. Be sure to do God’s work in the Great Commission, and
3. Vote for candidates who don’t hate America’s Christian roots.

What is with Trump supporters? How did this spoiled rich-kid city-boy draft-dodging Putin-loving Epstein-buddy circus-barker upside-down-Bible con artist ever manage to convince so many farmers and ranchers and lumberjacks and steelworkers and autoworkers that he was the one-and-only salvation of the common man? Not to mention how his talk about the “total authority” of the presidency plus his attempt at overthrowing the 2020 election somehow won over so many “conservatives”? And how his theft and subsequent careless handling of top secret government documents somehow convinced many people of the man’s great patriotism?
More recently, Trump said “help is on the way” to Iranian protesters when help was NOT on the way, resulting in up to 20,000 of our erstwhile friends there being shot down in the streets by their own government. Eventually, after it was already too late for those people, Trump attacked Iran without first refilling our half-empty Strategic Petroleum Reserve, without getting our traditional allies on board, without getting the American public on board, and without adopting the cheap and effective interceptor drone technology that President Zelensky offered him over a year ago -- technology SPECIFICALLY developed to stop Iranian-designed Shahed-type drones. Because of the last part alone, Iran has chased our USA forces out of all our Army, Air Force and Navy bases in the region, mangled our logistics situation, and (for one thing) made it very difficult to resupply our Navy ships at sea nearby. Meanwhile we expended way too many missiles of various types, including the defensive Patriot missiles so much needed by Ukraine to defend their civilians from Putin’s terroristic ballistic missile attacks. So once again Trump is shining the light of hope at the end of Putin’s dark tunnel. Then around June, as I recall, Trump was ready to accept a peace deal with Iran that was much worse IN EVERY WAY compared to the Obama deal Trump tore up during his first term. Yes, way bigger “pallets of cash” and everything. And no inspectors.
How have we come to so confuse vulgarity with honesty? Belligerence with patriotism? Stupidity with conservatism? Testosterone with competence? How did we come to believe that documented facts are “fake,” while fantasy is a legitimate basis for legal prosecution?
