Faith Perspective: No excuse for nonbelievers

In response to a recent question, “Why do you believe that Christianity is the true religion,” my answer is: Being Jesus Christ is the purpose for Christianity existing in the first place, and Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). And, I believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of the one true God. How can I believe in anything else?

The Bible is my manual, teaching me how to live an abundant life here on earth, including mentally, physically and most of all spiritually. It teaches me how to live morally, being nice to others, loving all people, even the so-called unlovable. Personally, I am only able to do this through the love of God and Jesus in my life. Without Christ, I am nothing; being born again in Christ, I am a child of the living God. Wow, that’s fantastic knowing the sinner I was before I believed. I cannot express in words what contentment there is to know God loves even me, my sins are forgiven and I’m on my way to heaven.

I want to have a personal relationship with the person I accept as my Lord and Savior. All of the other religions can’t do that because all of their gods are dead. They also teach we have to work our way to heaven through laws, rituals and traditions. Sad to say, but many Christian churches teach the same thing; they teach it’s Jesus plus the law. When it’s by grace through faith in only what Jesus did for us that we are saved.

Bottom line: it’s our choice what we believe; it’s not what country we come from or when we were born. God does not send people to hell. When we chose not to believe the Bible and choose our way instead of God’s way, no matter how good we are, we can’t save ourselves from going to hell. In the Book of Romans chapter 1, it says we are without excuse to believe since God has put in our created beings that God is, going all the way back to the beginning of human existence.

So, what is your excuse? At lease think about it, your eternal destiny depends on it.
