Portage Health Anesthesia sponsors Delaney Salmi. A 2026 graduate of Houghton High School, Delaney is the daughter of Mike and Kim Salmi. She was Battalion Commander and Command Sergeant Major in JROTC. The discipline and structure she found in JROTC is a huge part of her life. Delaney was president of the National Honor Society and belonged to the Key Club and Pep Club. She volunteered with elementary fun days and reading nights, parades, the American Legion, 31 Backpacks and at the Portage Lake District Library. Delaney has traveled to more than thirteen countries and has played softball for many years. This year she joined the swim team and although she had no experience, it ended up being one of her favorite sports. Delaney plans to work as a CNA this summer. She will attend the University of Michigan to study nursing. She will also be in the Army ROTC program and plans to commission as an Army officer after graduation to service active duty as a nurse. Whatever Delaney ends up doing in the future, she wants to make a difference to others.
