Minors roundup: Rajala’s, South Range, Auto Pro earn wins

STANTON — In Portage Lake Little League Minors action on Wednesday every game was close. Rajala Kitchens downed the Copper Country Elks, 6-5. South Range VFW also earned a close victory with a 4-3 win over Pat’s Foods. Auto Pro earned a 6-5 win over DP Contruction.

Rajala Kitchens 6, Copper Country Elks 5

Rajala Kitchens’ Connor Helminen had a double and run scored to help drive the offense.

Drew Larson and Brycyn Nettell had singles and scored in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead and help earn the win.

For the Elks, Pierce Johnson and Levi Matteson had singles and scored a run. Landon Gibson added two singles.

On the mound for Rajala Kitchens, Blake Heltunen, Max Nordstrom and Nettell struck out 11 with Nettell getting the win.

South Range VFW 4, Pat’s Foods 3

A game-winning steal by Ethan Kilpela in the bottom of the sixth gave South Range the win.

Porter Markham, Jamie Larson, and Noah Randell had a combined 13 strikeouts on the mound for South Range.

Brexton Kinnunen scored three times for South Range.

Dax Jenkins, Cole Seppala, and Nolan Hanner had a combined eight strikeouts on the mound for Pat’s.

Tyler Isaacson led Pat’s with a triple and a three-run home run.

Auto Pro Glass and Tire 6, DP Contruction 5

Auto Pro got past DP Construction in the bottom of the seventh inning. Ted Kilpela delivered a walk off double to drive in Gavin Larson for the winning run.

Redik Randell, Forrest LaCourt, Danny Sturos, Vince Heinonen, and Gavin Larson also had hits for Auto Pro.

Keedin Roberts, Casey Hiller, and Matthew Bennet had hits for DP Construction.
