Soccer: Adrian nips Lions in opener, 5-0
HANCOCK — The Finlandia University women’s soccer team never stopped fighting in a 5-0 loss to Adrian on Friday night at McAfee Field.
“I’m proud of the girls,” said head coach Grace Sokolow. “We knew Adrian held a regional ranking going into the game. Our goals were to play a better second half than the first and to limit our mistakes as the 90 minutes unfolded. FinnU women’s soccer is on a thousand step journey and today’s game was just the first few of those steps. Our morale is high and we’re looking forward to bouncing back tomorrow on the road.”
Adrian (1-0) wasted no time in getting on the board scoring off a corner kick 1:51 into the game. Three minutes later, sophomore Daisia Knowles broke away and her shot was just wide left.
