TAPIOLA — Rick Niemi singled in the decisive run in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday to give Houghton a 7-6 win over South Range in a loser’s bracket game in the 50 And Over Softball playoffs.

Houghton will now meet Chassell at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in a winners bracket game. They will need to a win to force another game next week.

Dave Hoffman laced out three hits for Houghton in Monday’s game, which saw winning pitcher Steve Dunstan outduel Joe Rossi of Range.

Dave Fehringer and Jim Puotinen each had two raps for Range.
