College Volleyball: Finlandia volleyball falls to Maranatha Baptist, 3-0
HANCOCK — The Finlandia University volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-15) to Maranatha Baptist on Saturday morning at the Paavo Nurmi Center.
In the first set, Maranatha Baptist (10-2) jumped out to a 10-2 lead and kept moving forward.
The second set was more of the same. The Sabercats got up 11-1 to effectively end the set.
In the third set, it looked to be more of the same as MBU went up 11-5. Finlandia freshman Taylor Hendrick buried the ball in the back corner to make it 11-6.
Senior Harlie Caster came in and got an ace to start a run of four straight points. Hendrick stuff the Maranatha Baptist hitter to make it 11-10. The Sabercats reeled off five straight points to turn back the Lions.
For Finlandia (0-12), freshman Braedyn Hurd had 11 digs and three total blocks while Hendrick had four solo blocks among her five total blocks.
Finlandia hosts the SISU Classic against Buena Vista at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.
