HANCOCK — Finlandia freshman Sam Linteo was named the American Collegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer. This is the first time Linteo has won the award.

Linteo had a strong collegiate debut weekend giving up five goals and recording 16 saves in 180 minutes. She had a career-high 14 saves against NCAA qualifier Adrian on Aug. 30. The next day, Linteo picked up her first collegiate shutout, 1-0 over Northland.

Members of the ACAA are Finlandia, Mills, Mount Mary, Pine Manor, Pratt, UC Santa Cruz and Valley Forge.
