Former Gremlins help Indians in weekend sweep

Francois, Bostwick notch assists

SAULT STE. MARIE — Two former Houghton Gremlins hockey players, Seth Francois and Kevin Bostwick, helped the Son Indians Midget AAA team earn three victories last weekend over the Tri-City Spartans.

The pair, 2018 Houghton graduates, were involved in goals on Saturday as the Indians earned 7-1 and 5-1 victories.

Francois and Bostwick both assisted on a power play goal by Logan Millhausen in the second period, part of a two-goal second period and 5-0 lead through 40 minutes in the weekend’s opening game.

The Indians scored twice more in the third after Spartans got one back en route to the 7-1 win.

Francois set up Milhausen’s game-opening tally in the Saturday evening game. Francois then picked up a second assist on a goal by May Povorozniouk.

With the Indians up 3-0 in the second, Francois struck. Bostwick picked up an assist on the tally to help the Indians to the 5-1 win.

On Sunday, the Indians struck with 22 seconds left in the third period to earn a 2-1 win.

The Indians are 7-4-0 on the season. Francois has one goal and five points in 11 games. Bostwick has one goal and seven points over 11 contests.

Traveling to Detroit this weekend, the Indians will take part in the Motor City Showcase. Their opening game will be against Gilmour Prep Academy on Friday. On Saturday, the Indians will face Team Indiana and the Colorado Tigers. They will finish with the Sylvania North Stars on Sunday.
