Indians take 1st game vs. Meijer
SAULT STE. MARIE — Hosting the Meijer Carts AAA hockey team over the weekend, the Soo Indians took the opener, 4-1, Saturday at the Taffy Abel Arena. They dropped the second game, 5-0 Sunday morning.
With the Indians up 2-0 in the second on Saturday, Houghton native P.J. Donnelly scored with 37 seconds remaining for a three-goal lead.
Nick Castillo and Cain Grosbeck scored the first two goals for the Indians in the contest.
The Indians held the 3-0 lead until the late stages of the third. After Meijer struck to end Gavin Rosek’s shutout bid, Tommy Cahill iced the game with an empty net goal.
The Indians return to action on Dec. 14-15, hosting Little Caesars.
