Stars recall Kero from taxi squad

The Dallas Stars recalled Hancock native Tanner Kero from their taxi squad on Sunday.

The team made the announcement Sunday afternoon. Kero was listed on the Stars’ website as the fourth-line center prior to Sunday’s game against the Nashville Predators.

Kero, 28, last appeared in an NHL game Nov. 12, 2017 with the Chicago Blackhawks. Kero has eight goals and 14 assists in 72 career NHL games. Kero has starred at the Stars’ AHL affiliate Texas Stars with eight goals and 25 assists last season. The season before, with the Vancouver Canucks’ AHL affiliate Utica Comets, Kero scored 24 goals and 33 assists in 67 games.

Kero played four years at Michigan Tech from 2011 to 2015, and was an All-American, scoring 55 goals and 56 assists in 153 career games. He was the 2014-15 WCHA Player of the Year.

Dallas hosts the Detroit Red Wings at 8:30 p.m. both Tuesday and Thursday.
