Redmen shut out Gremlins

HOUGHTON — Marquette got a late goal in the second period and an early goal in the third to dispatch Houghton 2-0 on Thursday.

Jackson Potulny scored with eight seconds remaining in the second period to give the Redmen a 1-0 lead. The goal was assisted by Joe DeMattia.

A minute into the third period, Jacob Garrow scored an unassisted goal to seal the Gremlins’ fate.

Houghton managed 25 shots on goal, but goaltender Brennan Hakkola stopped them all for the shutout.

Houghton goaltender Jimmy Pietila stopped 25 of 27 shots.
