Crush 14U wins in Tomahawk

The Copper Country Crush 14U girls softball, sponsored by Keweenaw Automotive, captured the championship this past weekend at the Rod Timm Memorial Tournament in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

The Crush opened play on Friday with a 13-4 victory over Merrill. Olivia Shank was the winning pitcher. Sadie Biekkola and Megan Pelto each had 3 hits and Brooke Koskela, Bella Coppo, and Emilie Pierner had two hits each to pace the offense.

On Saturday, Crush defeated Antigo 11-1. Sadie Biekkola was the winning pitcher. Olivia Shank had three hits and Ryleigh Johnson and Biekkola added two hits apiece.

On Sunday, Crush defeated Merrill 8-3 in the semifinals. Olivia Shank was the winning pitcher. Becca Lyons had three hits and Josie Hembroff and Reagan Moyle each had two hits.

In the championship game, Crush defeated Northern Chill 4-3. Olivia Shank picked up the win. The game was closed out by a great running catch by second baseman Jada Guilbault.
