HOUGHTON — Alex Rondorf scored 19 points to lead No. 24 Michigan Tech in a 92-51 romp of Lake Superior State on Thursday.
The Huskies (8-1, 3-0 GLIAC) had two others score double figures, including Ellie Mackay with 17 points and Isabella Lenz with 12.
Tech led early on by as much as nine points and the Lakers made it a one-point game with four minutes remaining in the first. The Huskies vaulted ahead to a 43-29 halftime lead, and the Lakers never recovered.
“I was really happy with our overall performance,” Huskies head coach Sam Clayton said. “I thought our transition offense was awesome and that was a key coming into the game. We did a good job setting screens and taking high percentage shots. Alex shot 9 for 11 from the floor with eight offensive boards as well so that was nice to see. Everyone that dressed scored a basket which I think speaks volumes about the team chemistry right now.”
The Lakers (2-5, 1-2) haven’t beat the Huskies since 2008. Mattison Raymen led the team with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists.
Rondorf helped extend Tech’s lead to 20 points early in the third quarter. She shot 9 of 11 with seven rebounds. Daisy Ansel had eight points, eight rebounds, two steals and two assists. Tessa Leece played 23 minutes and had three points and four rebounds.
