Hancock sweeps Calumet to win Copper Ball Classic

With winning scores of 8-5 and 15-0, the Hancock Bulldogs defeated the Calumet Copper Kings to win the 2022 Copper Ball Classic.

The Bulldogs took the trophy back from Calumet who won it in 2021.

In the opener, Sadie Biekkola picked up a complete-game win with 11 strikeouts. She helped her own cause with three RBIs at the plate. Emilie Scholie had two hits and two RBIs and Ella Storm had two RBIs to lead the Bulldogs offensively. Kylee Halonen had three hits for Calumet.

In the second game, Biekkola picked up the win, striking out four in four innings as the Bulldogs mercied the Copper Kings 15-0. Biekkola had two hits and Ella Storm had 2 RBIs for Hancock. Laura Giachino had two hits to lead Calumet. With the wins, Hancock moves to 11-4 on the season.
