Gremlins to host hockey scramble

HOUGHTON — The Houghton Gremlins hockey team are bringing back an old local high school hockey tradition on Thursday, the scramble. The Gremlins, Jeffers Jets, Hancock Bulldogs, and Marquette Redmen will be taking part at Dee Stadium.

Traditionally, the scramble gives coaches and players a chance to get an early taste of high school hockey. For players, it is a chance to skate with their new teammates. For coaches, it is a chance to see different line combinations together as each team searches for chemistry before they play games that will count towards conference standings and state rankings.

The Gremlins will be kicking things off against the Jets at 3 p.m. The Jets and Bulldogs will face off at 3:45 p.m. Houghton will face Marquette at 4:30 p.m. Marquette will face Hancock at 5:15 p.m.. Jeffers and Marquette will play at 6 p.m. before Houghton and Hancock close out festivities by facing each other at 6:45 p.m.

Each game will be 20 minutes long with stop time.
